Inauguration of iron ore mining work at Chirirbandar

The Bangladesh Geological Survey (GSB) has identified a possible iron ore mine at Chirirbandar in Dinajpur and started excavation work.
On Friday, April 2, at 3:30 pm, the Director General of the Department of Geological Survey of Bangladesh-GSB. Md. Sher Ali inaugurated the excavation work. At this time, the deputy director (drilling engineer) as the head of the well excavation work. Masud Rana, Deputy Director (Drilling Engineer) Md. Minhazul Islam, Assistant Director (Drilling Engineer) Md. Nazmul Hossain Khan Chirirbandar Upazila Executive Officer Ayesha Siddique and various government officials
Officials, local UP chairman, journalists, political, social and cultural leaders were present.
Note that the GSB has identified the mine on the land of a Kebar Mollah in Keshabpur mouza of Punttri union of Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur district. The first three months will be spent digging wells and exploring for mineral resources. They are also hoping to get other valuable resources including iron along with copper as the thickness of iron ore is much higher in the new mine. The equipment required for the excavation work has already been brought. A signboard has also been put up declaring the area as protected.
