Two cases of vandalism and arson in Gaibandha after the election, 5 arrested

Following the announcement of the results of the municipal elections, two separate cases were filed with the Sadar Police Station in connection with the attack on the RAB police in Gaibandha, vandalism of vehicles and arson. 5 people have been arrested in the incident.

Hundreds of unidentified accused, including 50 named, were booked in two separate cases by RAB and police at Sadar police station on Sunday.
According to RAB and police, the municipal elections were held in a peaceful atmosphere throughout the day, but the results were declared at the polling station near the house of independent candidate Anwar ul Sarwar at 6.30 pm on Saturday.

At the time, the results were not accurate, claiming that supporters of the candidate withheld election equipment and officials. Upon receiving the news, the RAB-police and the magistrate attacked them. Meanwhile, RAB-police and Judicial Magistrate’s six vehicles were vandalized and set on fire. Several locals, including 10 members of the RAB, police, DB and fire service, were injured in the attack.
After an hour and a half of clashes, the situation is now under the control of the police.

Superintendent of Police Touhidul Islam said the attack was pre-planned. No one involved in the attack will be spared.
